T-Mobile's HotSpot group put together a fair amount of TV advertising during the 2 years I worked with them. They were the masters of using co-op dollars from key partners to promote the service at a time when Wi-Fi wasn't given away for free at every restaurant, hotel, and coffee shop in America.
In addition to letting our audience know where to find HotSpot Wi-Fi, it was also our job to educate the consumer (in our case, the business professional on-the-go) as to what it was and the benefits.

For our co-branded spot with Hyatt Hotels, we thought of several different, creative ways business people on the road could communicate with the office and their customers - if they didn't have Wi-Fi. Carrier pigeons, smoke signals. Or by marathon runner.
